MBRT Releases 2025 Way to Be Magazine for Maryland’s Middle and High School Students

BALTIMORE – The Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) is proud to announce the release of the 2025 special double edition of Way to Be, its annual college and career readiness guide designed to inspire and empower students as they plan for life after high school. Published in English and Spanish and delivered to 55,000 students via Maryland’s 24 school districts, the resource is utilized by students as well as teachers, counselors, career coaches, caregivers and MBRT Speakers Bureau industry professionals as they support student success.

The theme for this year’s almost 100-page Way To Be publication is “My Future. My Maryland.” Aligned with the MBRT 2026 2029 Strategic Plan and the organization’s commitment to helping students envision their future and plan for pathways in Maryland, each page contains thoughtful design, updated information, useful data, and “Maryland mindsets” developed to assist youth in middle and high school as they explore and prepare for college and career.

In a first-of-its-kind publishing decision in partnership with publisher The Daily Record, the MBRT produces its first, single-issue bilingual edition, offering one-half of the magazine in English, while the reverse features a complete Spanish translation. This ensures increased access and inclusion for students and their caregivers across the state. The MBRT is pleased to once again partner with Cool & Associates in Maryland for translation services in a conversational, student-friendly style.

Twelve Maryland professionals from diverse industries share their unique career journeys and practical advice for students in the 2025 edition of Way To Be. These profiles showcase the many pathways available to students—college, career, technical training, and military—demonstrating that there is no single route to success.

Way to Be is more than a college and career readiness magazine—it’s a tool to empower students to take charge of their futures,” said Sharon Markley Schreiber, MBRT Executive Director. “This year’s bilingual edition brings the message home: there are incredible opportunities across Maryland and students have the power to shape their path.”

The 2025 edition includes:

  • A comprehensive guide to paying for college, internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing,
  • A step-by-step look at the interview process and building a personal brand,
  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways across Maryland’s 24 school districts,
  • and Student-friendly tools, checklists, and tips for preparing for life after high school.
