The Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT), in partnership with The Daily Record, is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2025 “The 24: Maryland’s Emerging Scholars” Award.
This prestigious award celebrates 24 outstanding high school students across Maryland who have shown exceptional leadership, academic achievement, and a commitment to positively impact their schools and communities. If you’re a student who goes above and beyond, this is your chance to shine.
Why Apply?
Being named one of “The 24: Maryland’s Emerging Scholars” is more than just an award—it’s a recognition of your hard work, dedication, and potential. Winners will be honored at an exclusive recognition event in February 2025 in Annapolis, where you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other top student leaders and influential community figures.
This award is not just about what you’ve achieved academically, although a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. It’s about your whole journey—your community involvement, your school participation, your leadership qualities and your passion for making a difference. Extra points will be awarded to those who have participated in MBRT programs or have a future career interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Who Should Apply?
If you’re a high school student in Maryland in grades 9-12, you are eligible to apply. We are looking for students who:
- Excel Academically: You maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Serve Your Community: You have a track record of community involvement, demonstrated through service hours.
- Lead Compassionately: You display strong leadership qualities and a commitment to helping others.
- Engage in School Activities: You are actively involved in your school community.
- Participate in MBRT Programs: You have been involved in MBRT’s college and career-readiness programs.
- Aspire to a STEM Career: You have an interest in pursuing a career in STEM.
