The Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT), in partnership with The Daily Record, is proud to announce the opening of applications for its fourth annual “The 24: Maryland’s Emerging Scholars” student awards. From October 1 through October 30, 2026, Maryland high school students are invited to apply for this prestigious recognition program celebrating exceptional student leaders across the state. One student will be awarded in each of Maryland’s 24 school districts.
“The 24: Maryland’s Emerging Scholars” honors students in grades 9-12 who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership and a commitment to serving their schools and communities. The program recognizes young people who are making a difference today while preparing to become tomorrow’s workforce and community leaders.
Eligible students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, demonstrate meaningful involvement in their schools and communities and show leadership through service and extracurricular activities. Students who have participated in MBRT college and career-readiness programs will receive additional consideration and those interested in future careers in STEM fields are especially encouraged to apply.
Being named one of Maryland’s Emerging Scholars is a significant distinction. Award recipients will be recognized at an exclusive celebration on February 23, 2027, in Annapolis, where they will join fellow honorees, leaders and community partners from across Maryland. The MBRT welcomes back four-time event presenting sponsor in 2027, Whiting Turner.
