TOWSON – October 16, 2025 – The Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) today announced the appointment of Latisha Coates-Young as its next chief program officer (CPO). In this key leadership role, Coates-Young will oversee the strategic direction, implementation, and evaluation of MBRT’s statewide programs designed to strengthen student achievement and prepare Maryland’s future workforce.
“With over 100 applicants, Latisha’s hands-on operational and programmatic experience stood out — but it is her dedication to serving the underserved that makes her the right person to lead our statewide program team,” said Sharon Markley Schreiber, MBRT executive director. “Latisha is joining MBRT as we launch our new strategic plan and scale proven programming that empowers student achievement to meet Maryland’s talent needs.”
Coates-Young brings more than a decade of experience driving operational excellence and organizational growth in the nonprofit sector. She has led strategic planning initiatives, developed and managed impactful programs, and advanced policies that center equity, inclusion, and access.
“I’m honored to join MBRT and look forward to working alongside such a dedicated and mission-driven team.” Coates-Young remarks. “I’m especially excited to expand our work in equitable college and career readiness, ensuring that every Maryland student—regardless of background—has access to the tools, opportunities, and support they need to thrive.”
Coates-Young most recently served as founder and principal strategist of Young Legacy Consulting, where her work has helped organizations create supportive environments that prioritize collaboration, community engagement, and long-term success. Prior roles include director of operations and human resources with Charm City Care Connection, assistant director of Baltimore Homecoming, Inc., and manager of programs and systems quality with the National Summer Learning Association.
Deeply committed to community service, Coates-Young contributes her expertise to several boards and committees focused on education equity, foster care and adoption, and advocacy for marginalized communities. She holds both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies.
Coates-Young continues, “I’m committed to deepening partnerships across education, business, and community sectors to create more cohesive and impactful programming. Together, we can build pathways that not only prepare students for the future but also empower them to shape it.”
She will begin work on October 27 from MBRT’s headquarters in Towson, Maryland, serving locations and staff throughout the state.
