Following a year of collaboration and input from Stakeholders across Maryland, the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) is proud to unveil its 2026 2029 strategic plan: My Future. My Maryland.
Unveiled at the MBRT 2025 Annual Meeting last month, the four-year plan reflects a bold, future-forward roadmap that aligns business, education, and government with a shared vision for Maryland’s future.
The result is a strategic plan designed to amplify collaboration, strengthen college and career readiness pathways, and build capacity to ensure every student in Maryland has access to opportunities that lead to success.
“Our stakeholders, including employers, MBRT students and staff, have worked together this year in a human-centered design approach to strategic planning,” Sharon Markley Schreiber, executive director, notes. “With a refreshed and measurable mission, an ambitions vision, thoughtful identification of core values, and purpose-driven strategic goals, MBRT is poised for an exciting and impactful future.”

“My Future. My Maryland.” focuses on five strategic goals designed to deepen MBRT’s statewide impact and deliver measurable outcomes:
- Strategic Partnerships – We will expand partnerships with education, government and business to ensure the delivery of our mission for greater student and business outcomes.
- Advocacy & Influence – We will advocate for education reform that improves student success and access to financial aid.
- Career Readiness & Talent Development – We will cultivate educational and career opportunities for all students aligned with the needs of Maryland’s priority industries for a stronger economic future.
- Communication – We will promote public understanding of our work & broader educational opportunities to increase stakeholder engagement.
- Organizational Effectiveness & Sustainability – We will foster a culture that optimizes staff success in a team dynamic, while maximizing operational efficiencies to sustain effort.
The 2026 2029 strategic plan will, beginning January 2026, implement more than a set of clarified goals — it will reflect a shared commitment to the students, educators, and employers who make up the heart of Maryland. Keep an eye on our website for more information – MBRT will continue to share milestones, outcomes, and opportunities for engagement.
Together, we will ensure that every Maryland student is future-ready — and every business has the talent it needs to thrive.
