Each school year, the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) invites industry professionals from every corner of the state to step into classrooms and leave an impact. Through our Speakers Bureau, volunteers inspire middle and high school students to see the connection between what they’re learning today and the futures they are building for tomorrow. Their stories remind students that achievement in school pays off in college, in the workplace, and in life.
Speakers connect with middle and high school students across the state – often in schools close to where they live or work. Each speaker selects the dates that work best for their schedule using MBRT’s volunteer management system, designed to make participation flexible and accessible.
Whether you are stepping up to the front of the classroom for the first time or returning to continue your impact, now is the perfect time to join or renew your commitment as an MBRT speaker.
All volunteer professionals receive full support before, during and after each school visit, including free training – available both virtually and in-person. These sessions provide everything needed to feel prepared, confident, and ready to engage students in meaningful conversations about their futures.
The program is led by Carrie Pannone, MBRT’s State Program Senior Manager, who coordinates school sessions across all 24 Maryland districts and ensures volunteers are set up for success.
“One of the best parts of my job as the State Program Senior Manager is meeting professionals in a wide variety of interesting careers across the state,” Carrie notes. “We provide the training, templates, talking points and speakers to provide inspiration and motivation for Maryland students to consider career pathways from real-world perspectives.“
