Students “The Future of Healthcare at MBRT Industry Day with Kaiser Permanente

Nearly 70 MBRT students from across Maryland gathered on September 25, 2024, at Kaiser Permanente’s new Lutherville-Timonium facility for an immersive Industry Day experience. Designed to provide students with firsthand insight into “The Future of Healthcare,” the event featured tours of clinics, urgent care centers, pharmacies, labs and surgery centers, alongside specialties like obstetrics, dermatology and neurology.

Students had the unique opportunity to explore healthcare careers up close, broadening their understanding of the field. This hands-on learning experience empowered students to envision themselves as future healthcare professionals, sparking interest in roles such as laboratory scientists, pharmacists, music therapists and even veterinarians.

The day concluded with MBRT’s 2024 Annual Meeting, hosted by Towson University, where students networked with healthcare, education, government and business leaders. This connection between students, the healthcare industry and Maryland’s wider workforce pipeline is a testament to MBRT’s commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders.

Why it matters: Events like MBRT’s Industry Day are pivotal in helping students bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world careers. By providing exposure to a variety of professions and fostering critical connections with industry leaders, MBRT is not only empowering students but also building a more robust workforce for Maryland’s future. Through strategic partnerships, hands-on experiences and student-driven programs, MBRT is preparing the next generation to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
