The Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) is thrilled to introduce the incoming cohort of MBRT Student Ambassadors for the 2024-2025 school year! These 30+ exceptional students, representing multiple counties across Maryland, will embark on a year-long journey focused on leadership development, personal growth and skill-building – all durable workforce skills.
The MBRT Student Ambassador Program, now in its seventh year, has evolved from its humble beginnings with five students into a program that equips young leaders with the tools for success in both their academic and future professional lives. This year, the program welcomes students from Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Caroline, Dorchester, Frederick, Garrett, Kent, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, St. Mary’s, Talbot, Wicomico and Worcester counties.
Ambassadors engage in a variety of enriching activities, including:
• Industry Day at Kaiser Permanente in Baltimore County, offering firsthand exposure to various healthcare career paths and industries serving healthcare.
• STEM Advocacy, where students champion the importance of a STEM education and its role in shaping the future; and,
• Youth Congress Day in Annapolis, providing students with a front-row seat to government in action, while fostering an understanding of civic engagement.
This year also features the second annual MBRT “The 24: Maryland’s Emerging Scholars” award program, celebrating students excelling in leadership, academic achievement, and community engagement from each of Maryland’s 24 counties and Baltimore City. The MBRT Student Ambassador Program offers a unique pathway for students to qualify for this prestigious recognition, in partnership with MBRT partner, The Daily Record.
Why it matters: The Student Ambassador Program not only empowers students to become future leaders but also provides a meaningful platform for them to connect with Maryland’s business community. For our industry partners, your involvement in MBRT’s programs builds a strong workforce pipeline and creates a lasting impact by preparing Maryland’s next generation of leaders, innovators and service-minded leaders.
