Imagine: Fall 2023

As the leaves change and the air turns crisp, the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) is embracing its own transformation. The newest edition of our newsletter, Imagine, is here ready to provide a glimpse into “Our Season of Change”.

This issue introduces both new and familiar faces stepping into new roles of the organization. Christine Aspell, representing one of our longstanding members, KPMG, has been appointed as the new Board Chair of MBRT. We also announce the transition of Nona Carroll into the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer, and she shares her perspective on leading through change. She is confident in the unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation, with our business and education partners being the key to that success. We also introduce our 2023-2024 cohort of Student Ambassadors, representing Maryland students in 13 districts across the state.

Aundra Anderson, Next Generation Scholars Program Manager and Kent County NGS Specialist, highlights the exciting expansion of our 7E Programming Framework. We are dedicated to preparing and supporting students in grades seven and beyond through our impactful Next Generation Scholars program.

Imagine also includes the section titled “In Case You Missed It”, featuring exciting highlights from the past year. These include internship success stories, uplifting leadership experiences and overviews of summer events like NextGen NextLevel and Summer of STEM.

Hearing directly from the students is always inspirational. In this edition, we share reflections from our three summer interns, Amaya, Olivia and Marcus, on their experience as part of the MBRT team.

We are also honored to include an interview with celebrity chef, Chef Stretch. Known for his appearance on Season Two of Gordon Ramsey’s Next Level Chef, Chef Stretch is also our esteemed keynote speaker at MBRT’s Annual Meeting. His interview shares a unique perspective on defining success, importance of culinary arts career pathway and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Amid the changes and transitions, one thing remains steadfast – MBRT’s unwavering commitment to supporting the students of Maryland to ensure the future of Maryland’s businesses continues to thrive.
