The Magazine - Be What
I Want To Be
In
October 2005, we produced the annual Be What I Want
To Be magazine (volume 2) with our partner The
Maryland Daily Record.
The
Daily Record's dedicated staff of designers, writers, editors,
sales people and distribution managers once again helped create
a unique career exploration tool for our students.
Over 90,000 copies were printed. The
large majority of these magazines were hand delivered to Maryland
8th and 9th graders, during presentations in our Maryland
Scholars Speakers Bureau.
The magazine also made its way to
students and parents via public libraries, community organizations
and the Maryland State Fair.

The Prototype -
We released a limited prototype website in May
2004. Testing and improvements with student teams began May 28 and
continued through the summer.
The primary testing groups were convened at Baltimore
City's Digital Harbor High School.
Thanks to Principal Mike Pitroff and his technology
educators, especially Stephanie Gilmore and Wendy McDermott ...
AND most importantly, to the 9th graders at Digital, an excellent
group of students who gave it too us straight, just as we asked.
