Welcome to the official launch of the 2013-14 Maryland Scholars Speakers Bureau! We are excited about our plans and improvements for the fall, and invite you – and others you know – to sign up, or renew your commitment for the coming school year today. What’s new this year?
-We’ve moved: Our volunteer management system is now being hosted on www.theSTEMnet.com! This new platform will give you the opportunity to see who’s signing up, when classroom schedules are added, and what your next steps are along the way.
-We’re focused on ACTION: We have been working hard to ensure that the call to action for students — the Maryland Scholars course of study — is clearly understood through speaker messages in the classroom. The lesson plan has been modified and the on-line training will focus on this update.
This year, we must recruit and retain 1,000 volunteers willing to enter classrooms in order to ensure that every 8th and/or 9th grade student in the state is reached. Live training sessions are being added to the system daily, and the Online Refresher Training course for veteran speakers will be launched in early September. To ensure that your voice is included on the Bureau this year, you MUST update your account today! For those who are new to the Bureau, please create an account at www.theSTEMnet.com today! We can’t do it without you! Please invite others to join us by downloading and sharing the recruitment flyer above. We look forward to working with you again in the fall to make Maryland Scholars even stronger and to reach more students.
Sincerely, MBRT Outreach Team!
