MARYLAND BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE FOR EDUCATION

LEARNING READINESS

MBRT believes that children who are healthy and well provided for by their parents and the community will be more likely to succeed in school - and will represent less of a tax burden in the long run - than those who are not.

The Maryland Business Roundtable for Education is a founding partner of the Ready At Five Partnership, which is firmly committed to ensuring that all young children in Maryland enter school ready to succeed.  As a statewide public/private partnership, Ready At Five coalesces and leverages community leadership to:
  • Improve the educational experiences of children birth to age five
  • Assist communities in providing support to families with children birth to five
  • Educate a child's first three teachers-parents, early care and education professionals and elementary school staff

PARENTS MATTER

A publication from the Ready At Five Partnership

The Parents Matter packet is a set of seven cards, each addressing one of the seven domains of child development - social and emotional development, physical development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social studies and the arts.  Each card emphasis the importance of all areas of a child's development and offers parents suggestions on how they can be their child's first and best teacher and nurture and support their children so they will be ready to succeed in school.
